The Core Mission: Prioritising the “Why”
“The idea of having partners from both public and private sectors coming together, working in the same office, is something that’s refreshing to me.”
Felicia’s professional journey brought her to Knovel from a public sector background, an experience that gives her a unique perspective on solving government challenges.
But the biggest shift, and possibly the key to success in innovation, is the approach of understanding the problem before offering a solution – the foundation of her role.

The solution-first approach focuses on the “Why”, the true pain point of the end-users, allowing Felicia (and the analysts team) to identify the right technologies and guide start-ups toward building impactful products.
Fast Pace, Full Cycle: Driving an Innovation Challenge
At Knovel, analysts aren’t siloed; they’re innovation drivers involved in the full life cycle of a project. The pace is rapid, and the impact is immediate.
Felicia experienced this firsthand almost immediately upon joining – less than a month into the role, she was to lead the scouting process for Cohort 4 of Dimension X, Hatch’s open innovation challenge.
Her work involved much more than just the initial scouting, seeing the entire process through since day one.
• Tech Scouting and Assessment: Leading the process to identify emerging trends and engage with relevant start-ups.
• Understanding Challenges: Working with teams to define the challenge itself.
• Demo Day: Witnessing the solutions developed for end-users’ needs from the start-ups that were scouted
Team-Focused, “Marathon-relay” Culture
Felicia is heartened that the team is supportive and caring. She believes that the culture of the team is like a marathon relay and every team member contributes to a significant role with unique strength. She further illustrates, “We build on each other’s progress, cheer each other on, and ensure we pass on the baton until the finishing line.”
She adds that for those looking to join the team, it is important to focus on achieving goals as a team and be curious to learn about new technologies, trends and be open to new perspectives and ideas.
