Meet Harshitha, One of Our Qualitative Assurance Interns
Internships can be transformative experiences, offering a unique blend of professional development, skill acquisition, and personal growth for those not yet in the field. This time, we dive into the insightful journey of Harshitha, an 18-year-old student pursuing a Higher National ITE Certificate (Higher Nitec) in AI Applications, who embarked on her internship in the Quality Assurance (QA) department at our innovative solution-engineering consultancy.
Journeying in the QA Department: A Story Begins
Harshitha shares how the internship broadened her perspectives in quality assurance. She saw the importance of collaboration among team members and user-centred design in product development, as well as the performance of different AI models and systems in terms of accuracy and reliability. This experience opened new career opportunities for her even beyond QA testing.
Making an Impact: Key Roles and Achievements
Harshitha’s internship involved a myriad of responsibilities that allowed her to explore the depths of quality assurance in a real-world setting.
Two of the standout projects she worked on were the company’s AI-powered talent hiring tool AIDIOS, and a client’s unique transcription and translation platform. She planned and conducted bug testing to ensure the performance and reliability of the platforms. She also shared her opinions and suggestions for product features to further enhance the product, which were considered and even implemented by the software development team. Witnessing her feedback materialise into improvements for the product was a fulfilling experience for her.
She also recounted vividly the importance of documentation maintenance. While it can seem mundane at times, it carries a significant impact on the debugging process and improving the overall product solution. She felt that this has changed her perspective on QA, with her work making a difference to the integrity of the product, user experience, and brand reputation.
Levelling Up and Gaining Insights
Throughout her time with us, Harshitha has developed several key skills that will be invaluable in her career ahead.
1. Attention to Detail: One of the most valuable skills she developed was a keen eye for minor details given how small adjustments all add up to a big difference in creating a positive user experience. Ensuring seamless functionality, recognising small bugs, and suggesting design improvements were part of her efforts to enhance overall product quality.
2. Time Management: Navigating a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities tested her time management skills. To overcome this, Harshitha learned to prioritise tasks effectively and sought guidance when necessary to keep her organised and ensure quality results under tight deadlines.
3. Collaboration Skills: Through her involvement in cross-functional teams, she discovered the power of cross-functional collaboration and how it enriches product development.
Her experience expanded her understanding of UI/UX discussions and sprint reviews, and front-end and back-end development, broadening her career possibilities.
Thriving in Our Culture: Personal and Professional Growth
From her very first day, Harshitha noted an exceptionally welcoming and collaborative company culture. Her initial impression has only deepened over the course of her internship, as she experienced.
Harshitha reflected on a key milestone in her journey—a shift in her ability to take initiative. Transitioning from feeling hesitant about making mistakes to confidently launching into tasks was a pivotal moment when she grew more familiar with her workflow processes. She witnessed how her supervisor and many colleagues were eager to share their knowledge and support her learning both professionally and personally.
The strong focus on teamwork was essential as she built relationships with teammates from different functions, including the engineering team and the UI/UX team. She also notes that the company’s supportive atmosphere fostered her confidence, empowering her to contribute ideas more actively.
This ability to balance initiative with quality laid the groundwork for her ongoing professional development as she experienced first-hand the value of learning through action and collaboration.
Looking Back
Harshitha described her internship as both enriching and beyond her expectations, as she was actively involved in real projects.
“My advice would be to never hesitate to ask questions when in doubt- it’s always better to clarify than to stay silent and risk making mistakes. It is always better to do some research to build confidence before approaching [your] manager.”

She quips, “I never thought I could learn so much about teamwork from our team bonding event. It strengthened our bond, and it brought me closer to the various team members. It truly helped me to understand the value of interpersonal relationships while building up my knowledge.”
